A Day In the Life

7:30 AM Wakeup

08:00 Go to milk cows.

08:30 Get shit on by a cow. Swear at cow. Then laugh. Gerard hoses me down to get shit off my face/hair.

10:00 Run to the shower to get clean.

10:30 Porridge.

11:00 See if Gerard wants me to do anything. Nothing. Go for a walk in the rain.

2:00 Come back. Chat with people in living room.

3:00 Call Matthew from Colorado because I have to cook tonight and that’s a recipe for disaster. I need his help!

3:30 Matthew teaches me to mince garlic.

5:00 I’ve prepared something amazing.

5:30 My amazing meal is gone?!

06:00 Remember why I think cooking is a waste of time (2 hours of work is gone in 20 min!?).

06:15 Realize I have time to waste. *Volunteer to cook again next week.

07:00 Call my own family.

08:00 Blog, play guitar, journal.

Go to bed.

FARM LIFE IS HARD! I am being challenged a lot by the lack of schedule, lack of things-to-do, etc. It may be good practice, but I still dread the thought of practicing this for 3 more weeks. Next week, I will pick a sunny day to go see something outside of Cork, and that will be nice. I also have many plans in the next few months which I am looking forward to, In the meantime, I guess I can learn to cook?

I swear it tastes better than it looks!
They’ve never had cornbread!

  1. Ashley, your chili looks amazing. Nothing better than chili and cornbread on a rainy day! So proud of you! Keep on keeping on!
