Thought One: In another life, I would be an ok farmer.
Why? I love the hustle of it. I don’t do much of the hustling because I still am not the worlds handiest (I need to be shown a task before starting.) However, there is literally always something that could be done, and Gerard is out there doing it. I personally love the feeling of accomplishing tasks, and I could see a world where farming and getting to knock out tasks all day would be up my alley.
In all seriousness though, I have so much respect for Gerard, a 70 year-old man who hustles to keep this farm going. He obviously got it from his dad, a 102 year-old man who started this farm and built the house. They actually interviewed the granddad in 2014, and I am going to link the article below. This farm keeps their family afloat, but it is not going to be making anyone rich. Gerard said it will all eventually it will go under. He just hopes he is long gone by that point.

Thought Two: I have possibly made myself useful!
To begin, Stephanie is an amazing woman who has been here at the farm for a year. She is especially helpful in maintaining the house, granddad, the shopping, cooking, etc. Sadly, she has to return to Germany for a surgery, and in a family of all boys, her presence will definitely be missed. I have tried to take initiative, and I think I have a good grasp on what needs to be done throughout the house to keep things going for the next few days. I offered to do some cooking; I know how to clean; I know how to make the soda bread and the porridge. I also am somewhat useful with milking and farm work. All in all, I think I have been useful to this family in some ways and that makes me happy to say.

Thought Three: If there is an ocean, I have to run into it.
That’s all there is to that.
Thought Four: Dressing up for Halloween may get me laughed at, but it’s worth it.

Thought Five: Grocery stores here have FALSE ADVERTISING.
Why on earth do the grocery stores have halloween decorations and so many pictures of jack-o-laterns but no pumpkins or canned pumpkin?! Apparently, canned pumpkin is not a thing here. Oh well.
