Wow! Blogging has gotten HARD, and I know the season is only getting busier and busier. This blog post was started at a Subway at the Cincinnati airport and finished in Chattanooga, and its theme is CONNECTIONSSSS
I truly think I could do just about anything…that’s not me feeling cocky, like I am the most capable human being ever. It’s because I have so many wonderful connections with people who are so much more talented and capable than I am. AND they are willing to bless my life with those talents.
The quick recent highlights reel….
Music
I know I have some amount of musical talent, but I get to play music and venues way beyond my individual skill level only thanks to the musical friends I have made! For example, recently, I was at an open mic to play a song by Brandi Carlile I have been obsessed with. However, I am just not a good enough guitar player to sound good on it on my own. Even so, no worries! With the help of my friend Matt, I was able to create music beyond what I could do alone. Same goes for playing with the band Birdnest. It is an incredible blessing to get to perform with such talented musicians. I would never be playing at the venues I get to perform at without them❤️
Climbing
I get to climb cool shit because of other climbers who are 15x better than I am! I am grateful to the friends who first introduced me to climbing; the friends who invited me on a trip to Mexico to climb in college even though I was a beginner, the friends who lead harder grades than I can so we can climb more things, the strangers in Chattanooga or Spain or Mexico who helped me get outside, and so on.
Now, I am in Chattanooga. I went climbing today with a guide and tomorrow with some random people from the internet who are taking a chance on hanging out with me! Odds are they are better climbers than me or at the very least know the area and have gear😂 Because of these strangers, I get to adventure and I’m so grateful.
1. Climbing in Chat today. 2. Dillon taking me on my longest multi-pitch climb. 3. Climbing in Spain thnx to some friends who took me out and loaned gear. 4. First time every at the climbing gym with a capella friends. 5. First time outdoor climbing. 5. First time multi-pitching.
Random Acts of Kindness
Two weekends ago, I did the unthinkable. I missed a flight. I HAVE NEVER MISSED A FLIGHT! I was so upset at myself and the situation, and if I were on my own, I would never have made it to Columbus. The potential rebook flights were a minimum of $250 one way! However, my cool pilot friends offered me a buddy pass the next day to get to Cinci and my friend Katie drove 3 hrs to come and pick me up. THEN, on the way home, I name dropped my pilot friend to the FA and she gave me a complimentary drink!
Good times in C-Bus!
SUMMARY
The moral of this whole post is that the things we do and can accomplish with the help of others is insane. I dream big not because I think I am so incredibly amazing to accomplish anything I want but because I believe with the skills and strengths of others, I can achieve a heck of a lot more than I would ever be able to all by myself. I truly believe that is a world motto too. The shit we can accomplish together is unimaginable!
