To drink the milk or to not …the ultimate question. I was nervous at first because I am lactose intolerant. I know I can handle small amounts, so I have been adding some splashes to my coffee. However, yesterday, I was tasked with making the porridge, and it turns out the porridge is made with A LOT of milk. And I’ve already been eating it. And I am fine! One girl explained to me that unpasteurized milk can actually be easier to digest for people who are lactose intolerant because of the bacteria present. Supposedly, the bacteria help the body to produce the enzyme to digest lactose? Im still hesitant to drink a full glass, but I am eating the porridge, and adding it into coffee and hot chocolate. Also, I can see where the milk is coming from each morning, so that adds to my hesitancy. The cows are a little dirty.

Speaking of milking, today I got to use the machines! Basically, I am a pro-milker now. Ok, maybe not. But at least I am slightly more useful. We also ventured to another pasture yesterday to feed the calfes. So cute! You may notice the mud on the ground in the photo. It’s not mud. It is a lot of poop, and that shit is everywhere.

I enjoy the tasks. I still want more, and I am still adjusting to having a lot of downtime, but it is a good challenge for me. I’ve spent some time in the evenings going on walks. It is supposed to rain a lot the next few days so that may have to pause. However, there is a new girl who arrived yesterday, and I am hopeful she may want to go into the city or nearby town with me. I still need to have a Guinness!
