An adventure blog as I create space for new experiences, people, feelings, and more.

There’s no such thing as boredom, just an inactive ima…be quiet mom.

Fine mom. Sometimes, my imagination is inactive! The past two days it has been POURING rain. I did try to go for a walk yesterday, but I got soaked to the bone. Turns out my waterproof hiking boots are not that waterproof. Stephanie came and rescued me by car, but that would not have been an option today. Even last night, Stephanie and I almost got trapped in the water coming back from the market. All of Rochestown is flooded. So I am stuck at home.

What does one do with so much free-time? Well today… I played guitar, wrote this article, watched Gilmore Girls, painted some tin roof parts for Gerard, and baked brownies (they were a hit!). I’m still bored lacking an active imagination. I have been almost begging for chores. When I am doing the milking or scraping or painting, I feel good and calm. When I am sitting and doing nothing, I am antsy. Just one week ago, I would have begged for even 5 more minutes in the day. Now, I have hours of unstructured time. I can tell others were bored today as well, but they tolerate it better than me. My energy is laughable to them I think. At least, I know they were laughing when I came back from my walk soaking wet.

I will say, I knew going into this adventure, this could happen. I just wasn’t expecting it so quickly? Regardless though, it is still a good challenge. Also, the weather is to clear up tomorrow. The new girl, Julia, and I decided we WILL go into town tomorrow night. I WILL get that pint of Guinness. Maybe a snakebite after? (Who am I to ignore advice from a pastor 😉) There are also other areas nearby I still hope to explore. More to come…

They bought me peanut butter ❤️!
Lots of coffee/tea by the fire.

  1. I had to look up what a snake bite was. “A snakebite is an alcoholic drink from the United Kingdom. Traditionally, it is made with equal parts lager and cider.” Sounds like something you would enjoy! Hope the sun shines for you tomorrow!

Trust your pastor! She’s been around those little British islands a few time… though some barkeeps will refuse to make you a snakebite black, which adds black currant syrup. But it’s also delicious!
